Ferris Takes One, Ties Other -
The Bulldogs came out Friday night firing, scoring two goals in the first period, goals coming from Ryan Tubbs (Bush, Pnacek) and Wes Schook (Cosgrove, Paret). The second period had only one goal by Ferris' Jonathan Juliano (Carney). With a 3 goal lead headed to the third period, the Bulldogs wanted to make sure Central would not come back as they scored 3 more. The goals were scored by Josh Husted (Tubbs, Bush), Husted again from Shields and David Dettmer (Husted, Force). Kevin Delamrater played between the pipes for Ferris earning his first shut-out of the season stopping all 30 shots thrown at him.
Saturday night the Bulldogs came out a little flat giving up the first goal of the game, before coming right back a minute later to tie it with a goal from Josh Shields. With 4 minutes left Wes Schook (Juliano) scored for Ferris to take the lead. The lead lasted all of 20 seconds as Central tied it back up at 2. The second period saw one goal from Central with 23 seconds left. Not even 30 seconds into the final period CMU scored again to take a 4-2 lead. With plenty of time left for the Bulldogs they started chipping away, starting with a goal from Dale Kolatski (W. Schook), then 4 minutes later it was Ryan Tubbs (Kolatski, Bush) and then with just under 2 minutes remaining Jordan Heffner scored with an assist to Carney. Once again Central had an answer just 20 seconds later off a face-off. They played overtime but had no winner so the game ended in a 5-5 tie.

Bulldogs Still Ranked 3rd -
Ferris defiantly had enough to keep them motivated over the weekend trip to Miami (OH), with four points on the line for GMHL purposes, the last two games before the second ranking period, and playing the number one team from the Southwest Region. Both teams came out and played two really good hockey games. Friday night was a dramatic overtime offensive showdown with Ferris' Jonathan Juliano scored his second of the night lifting the Bulldogs to a 7-6 victory. Ryan tubbs also added two, Paret, W. Schook and Kolatski each had one.
Saturday night featured more of a defensive game with better goaltending. Kevin Delamarter stood strong in net getting the win 3-2 for the second straight night with 34 saves. Jake Carney had two goals on the evening including the game winner with 3 minutes left in the game. Mike Bush was the other goal scorer. The Bulldogs go into a mini Thanksgiving break, before they play a home and home set with rival Central Michigan.

Back to Winning Ways -
The Bulldogs took two from Toledo in a big way over the weekend. Scoring a total of 17 goals in the two games and allowing 6. Ferris' goaltender Mitch Bryant got his second start of the season Friday night and earned a 6-3 win. The Bulldogs got two goals from Ryan Tubbs and one from Mike Bush, Dale Kolatski, Wes Schook and David Dettmer. Saturday night the Bulldogs' Matt Vivian also got his second start of the season as he earned the 11-3 win. Scoring for Ferris was two from Mike Bush, Wes Schook, Collin Schook, Dan Cosgrove, and one each from Dale Kolatski, Adam VanOeveren and Derek Paret. The Bulldogs will travel to Oxford, OH this up coming weekend to play GMHL foe Miami (OH) Redhawks.

Drought Continues -
Friday night the Bulldogs were back on the road to face another GMHL opponent in the Wolverines of Michigan. Once again a bad first period led to the Bulldogs trying to fight from behind all night long. They were unable to do so as they lost once again 7-3. The Bulldogs scoring came from Mike Bush twice and Jonathan Juliano once. Ferris will try to rebound this weekend in a home and home series with Michigan State.
The Bulldogs took on the Panthers of Davenport Thursday night and forgot to show up and play as they were beat 11-3. Down 2-0 after the first period the Bulldogs could not get any momentum to get back in the game. Ferris did not give up though fighting til the end they got 3 goals in the third period, first by Jake Carney (Dettmer, Husted), Second by Adam VanOeveren (Juliano), and third by Jonathan Juliano (Kolatski, Shields).

The Bulldogs came out with jump in the game Friday night scoring just 18 seconds in off the stick of Mike Bush, assist went to Juliano. The Eagles tied the game midway thru the period before Ferris regained the lead with five minutes to go when Jonathan Juliano Scored a powerplay goal, assisted by Bush. In the second period the Bulldogs extended their lead when Ryan Tubbs scored on the powerplay, assists went to Husted and Sapino. With a minute remaining in the period the Eagles got back within one. The third period started with a goal from FGCU to tie the game at 3. Bush and Juliano hooked up again when they went down the ice on a 2 on 0 rush that ended with Juliano passing to Bush for the goal and the lead. The Eagles once again tied it up on the powerplay with just ten minutes to go in the game. Just three minutes later Juliano scored the game winner, the assist went to Collin Schook.
Game two of the weekend was a different outcome as the Bulldogs fell 6-3. Florida scored first this time around, but Ferris answered with two goals of their own, first by Juliano (Bush, Dettmer), second by Carney (Bush). The Eagles tied the game at 2 before the end of the first period. The Second period was back and forth, but saw just one goal from each team, Dale Kolatski being the goal scorer for Ferris. The third period scoring was all done by the Eagles as they scored on their few chances of the period as Ferris could not capitalize. FGCU scored with a minute left to make it 5-3 and nearly impossible for Ferris to tie the game, but the Bulldogs did try as they pulled their goalie and had two very close chances, before the puck bounced over the defense at the blueline and allowed the Eagles to seal the deal with an empty net goal.

The Bulldogs found themselves down 0-1 after one period of play. The second period Ferris got it going scoring two goals, the first by Mike Bush off a pass from Juliano and Josh Husted scored on the powerplay from Juliano and Carney. Jake Carney scored the final goal of the game early in the third period to give the Bulldogs some breathing room the rest of the way, Juliano got the assist. Both goalies played very well in net but it was Kevin Delamarter getting the win for the Bulldogs stopping 38 of the 39 shots he faced.

Ferris Beats Adrian -
Ferris came out very slow in the first two periods of the game, but were lucky to only be down by one goal going into the third period. Down by one in the first period Jonathan Juliano scored to make it even after one period. Adrian got the only goal in the second period to take a 2-1 lead into the third. The third period was all Ferris as they got three powerplay goals to seal the win 4-2. The goals were scored by Jordan Heffner from Juliano, Juliano from Tubbs and Mike Bush from Juliano. Ferris outshot Adrian 53-24 to help give Matt Vivian his first win in goal for the Bulldogs.

Ferris Wins First GMHL Game -
The Bulldogs continued their winning ways Friday night as they beat the University of Michigan 7-4 in the Bulldogs first action of the GMHL this season. The two teams trading back goals thru the first two periods of play. It was one to one after the first period as Jonathan Juliano scored for Ferris with an assist to Bush. In the second period the Bulldogs got goals from Juliano (Heffner) and Ryan Tubbs (Cosgrove, Stempin), but Michigan had two powerplay goals to make it a 3-3 tie going into the third period. Michigan also started the scoring in the third period to give them a lead with 13:35 remaining. With just under 3 minutes remaining Jake Carney scored a powerplay goal to tie the game. 50 seconds later David Dettmer carried one all the way down the ice and scored to give the Bulldogs the lead. Under a minute to go the Wolverines pulled their goalie and Juliano got his hattrick with an assist to Heffner. With the goalie still pulled, Sean Sapino netted his first of the season. Kevin Delamarter was the winning goaltender stopping 40 of his 44 shots on the night.

Bulldogs Sweep -
The Bulldogs never trailed the entire weekend to give them a four game unbeaten streak to start the season. Friday night Mike Bush got the Bulldogs going on an early powerplay with assists to Juliano and Dettmer. The Ice Bears tied it up just five minutes later. With 6:36 remaining in the opening period Juliano scored to give Ferris another one goal lead, assists went to Carney and Dettmer. The home team answered before the end of the period to make it a tie game going into the first intermission. The second period was back and forth and Ferris' Ryan Tubbs was the only one to score in the 20 minutes. Entering the third period up by a goal, Ferris scored a powerplay goal with 16:15 to go off the stick of Wes Schook. Just 35 seconds later Juliano scored his second of the game from Bush and Carney. The Ice bears would end the scoring for the night to make it a final of 5-3 in favor of the Bulldogs. Kevin Delamarter was outstanding again in net for the Bulldogs as he stopped 32 of his 35 shots he faced.
Saturday evening the Bulldogs scored two quick goals, one on the powerplay by Josh Husted (Tubbs, Cosgrove) and then even strength by Mike Bush from Juliano. The Ice Bears came back strong with two quick goals themselves to tie the game at two. With 6:50 left in the period Bush scored on the powerplay with Cosgrove assisting to go into the first intermission up by one. The second period was the low scoring period of the night once again as the home team tied it at three before the Bulldogs regained the lead as Chris Wagner got his first as a Bulldog, assists went to W. Schook and Dale Kolatski. The third period was all Ferris, mostly because of all the penalties the Ice Bears took. The Bulldogs scored 3 powerplay goals in the third, first by W. Schook (Tubbs, Sapino), second to W. Schook (Cosgrove, Tubbs), and the third went to Bush for his third of the night and assisting were Carney and Dettmer. Mitch Bryant got his first start and was successful in stopping 21 of his 25 shots he faced. The final score was 7-4.

Ferris Ends The Weekend Big -
Ferris found themselves down only14 seconds into the game. 7 minutes later they got back on track with a powerplay goal by Dan Cosgrove with assists to Bush and W. Schook. The rest of the period was a battle between the two teams. The second period was underway and 40 seconds in Ryan Tubbs (Husted, Rehil) put the Bulldogs ahead by one. Only a minute later, Adam VanOeveren (W. Schook) put a loose puck in the back of the net. The Lions would pull within one a few minutes later. The teams went into the locker room at a score of 3-2 with Ferris leading. Lindenwood came out with a powerplay goal 4 minutes into the third period to tie the game at three. The tie did not last long as Josh Husted (Sapino) found a way to pull the momentum toward the Bulldog bench. Ferris would hold Lindenwood to three goals for the game as Juliano (Carney) scored with 2 minute remaining and again with a powerplay goal with assists to Heffner and Dettmer. Congratulations to the Bulldogs on a great weekend.

Bulldogs Come back to Tie -
Friday night the Ferris State Bulldogs hosted Lindenwood for their home opener. The Bulldogs however came out of the gate slow and headed into the locker room down 1-0 after 20 minutes of play. Ferris' Jonathan Juliano put the puck in the net 40 seconds into the second period to tie the game. That was the only goal of the second period. Two goals in 3 minutes put Lindenwood up 3-1. With 5 minutes to go in the game Jake Carney scored a powerplay goal to put the Bulldogs within one. Ferris pulled their goalie with a minute to go and with 22 seconds left Ryan Tubbs tipped a shot from Juliano to tie the game. The two teams would go back and forth in a 5 minute overtime period, but no one came out on top.

Alumni Weekend -
Alumni come to town and sweep the weekend once again. They won the softball game on Friday night, had the winning foursome on Saturday for the golf outing and won the hockey game Sunday 5-3 with a strong goaltending performance. Thank you all very much for traveling to Big Rapids for the weekend to make it such a success.
Red V. White Game -
The team was split into two different teams for a fun scrimmage that saw the White Team come out on top 5-2. This is the second annual Red V. White game for the Bulldogs that earned a spot on the team after a tough week of try-outs. They look forward to the same type of play throughout the 2009-2010 season.
