Club Hockey at Ferris State University is one of the premiere Club Hockey Programs in the Nation and premiere club sports at Ferris State University. Since its beginning it has always been a high point at the University.
The team is in the Great Midwest Hockey League with teams such as Michigan State, U. of Michigan, Ohio State, and Miami(OH) University. The league is believed by many to be "the toughest" in the ACHA, American College Hockey Association. The last three National Champions have been apart of the GMHL (Oakland 2004 & 2006, Michigan State 2005). Comprised of players with Midget (AAA,AA), Juniors (A,B), ACHA (Div III), and high school experience this is considered the next step for many hockey players.

Team History
The team was founded in 1979.

Ferris State University joined the ACHA before the 1992-1993 season and then won the National Championship the next season. They are still a member of the ACHA.

Ferris State University was a founding member of the Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference (MCHC) but left the confernce after the 2000-2001 season. The next season they became a founding member of the GMHL and they are currently still competing in the GMHL.

League(s) History
The ACHA was founded in 1991. Its inaugural season was the 1991-1992 campaign. It started as an organization that would serve as the governing body for non-varsity mens ice hockey. Now it has three mens divisions and two womens divisions. There are over 300 total teams in the ACHA.

The MCHC was founded in 19$$ and is still in existence today. The conference only has ACHA Mens Division III teams as members now. It is the premeire Division III league in the ACHA.

The GMHL was developed after the 2001 ACHA DII National Championships in Indianapolis, IN. Six of the sixteen teams that were in the 2001 Tournament decided that it was time to develop a league in the midwest that incorporated the elite teams from both the Southeast Region and the Central Region. Along with Ferris State University five other schools were founding members. The founding members were Indiana University, Miami University, University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and Oakland University. The league started compeition with the 2001-2002 season.
Davenport University joined before the 2004-2005 season. Ohio State University joined before the 2005-2006 season. Oakland University left the GMHL after the 2005-2006 season and went to ACHA Division I. Grand Valley State University became a member of the league prior to the 2006-2007 season.
The GMHL is considered to be the toughest conference in the ACHA Division II ranks.

The Bulldogs play their home games at the Robert L. Ewigleben (A-VAH-glave-in) Ice Arena, which is located on the Ferris State University campus. The 2006-07 season signifies the arena’s 32nd year of operation and the facility is named in honor of former FSU President Dr. Robert L. Ewigleben.
With an official seating capacity of 2,493,the arena features a half-size rink for recreational use, three dressing rooms with direct access to the ice surface, a multi-purpose wing, and the Bulldog Room lounge for game activities.
